This bayonet began its life as an Austrian made bayonet for the Mannlicher model 1888 straight pull bolt action Rifle. This rifle was fielded in the late 19th Century by the AUSTRO HUNGARIAN Empire until 1895, when it was replaced by the more advanced Mannlicher model 1895. By WWII, both these models were obsolete, however good edged weapons were never wasted if possible. Before and during the outbreak of WWII, the
